The 27-year-old drug addict, who is the girl’s biological father... denied the charges, claiming he found the toddler dead and disposed of the body in a panic. He allegedly boiled the pieces of his daughter and threw them in the trash.

Worrying signs for tourism

Unless the government comes to some sort of agreement with the country’s creditors and is able to put an end to the economic uncertainty, Greek tourism’s positive course in terms of foreign arrivals is at risk of reversal.

The first few months of the year saw strong growth in the tourism flow to Greece as the momentum generated last year continued into 2015. However the initial rise recorded in bookings for this coming summer from key markets such as Germany has now declined to zero and interest has moved to rival destinations.

Most want euro even with new bailout deal

The majority of Greeks want the country to stay in the eurozone should ongoing negotiations with foreign creditors fail, even if that means signing a new bailout deal, a new survey has found.

Asked whether they want to keep the euro or return to the drachma, 66.5 percent said they preferred the common currency over 27 percent who would prefer a return to the nation’s old currency. A smaller majority, 55.5 percent over 35 percent, were in favor of euro membership if that entailed signing up to a new memorandum.

Greece is willing to quickly finalize a 1.2 billion-euro deal with German operator Fraport to run regional airports and reopen bidding for a majority stake in Piraeus port, a senior privatisations official told Reuters on Tuesday.

The plan to press ahead on the two major asset sales - whose fate had been in doubt since Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras took power - appeared to be the latest concessions offered by his government in an effort to secure aid from EU and IMF lenders.
