Greece: first "mini heat wave" for this summer imminent
The first "mini heat wave" of this summer season is expected in Greece this week, with the meteorological services warning that temperatures will rise to 39 degrees Celsius by Thursday, as To Vima online reports.
The temperature in the northern parts of the mainland will climb to 35-36 degrees on Wednesday and 37 degrees from the rest of the country. Thursday is going to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures approaching 39 degrees. In Athens the temperature will raise to 37 degrees.
The first heat wave since the summer solstice will begin to subside on Friday though, with meteorologists pointing out that strong northerly breezes will help reduce temperatures.

Very happy with that!! We're in Paxos from Monday. As long as the air-con works of course!

Just returned from Paxos. Beautiful island and very unspoilt. Have a fabulous trip Tony.

Very jealous Tony. Office in London with broken aircon is nowhere near as lovely.

Office in Skala with no aircon isn't that lovely, either! (But aren't I lucky to live here!?!)
Still, I do get to watch the young women in bikinis walk past :)
And the old women in bikinis, too :(

I thought you had aircon? doors open isn't it?
If you get a break you can always run down and dip your toes, my option is to go outside and add a layer of dirt

If you get a break

Where were you in Paxos? We're in Loggos up the hill overlooking the harbour.

Hi Tony,
We stayed in an apartment in the tiny Hamlet of Fanariotatika which is located 2km South west of Gaios.
-
Sounds nice and well off the beaten track. :)

We had lunch in Loggos. Pretty little port, have a great holiday.

Only problem with Paxos is that it seems to be the first port of call for all the yacht flotillas from Corfu. They arrive, clog up all the bars and tavernas and next morning set sail after dropping all their shit into the water so that us lesser mortals can watch the turds slowly drift onto the beach all day.
-
I think there is an opening waiting for you in the Paxos Tourism Office, Ari...

Not noticed it as a problem in Loggos. There are quite a lot of yachts (have counted 30 on one occasion) in Lakka in the fantastic almost circular bay when we go morning/afternoon including very small sized flotillas - seem like no more than 2-3 in a group. We come off the beach about 1700 and it doesn't seem much different so unless they all turn up later and leave early it's not too bad.

I stayed in Lakka, a lovely little place. Just watch out for the brown fish, Tony.
