GNTO Hosts Foreign Journalists on Kefalonia to Promote Diving Tourism

A group of ten journalists from abroad will highlight Greece’s features as a diving destination in the foreign media, within the framework of the Tourism Ministry’s plan to promote the country as a 365-day a year destination.

The journalists, who will arrive from the UK, Germany, Denmark and Poland, are participating in a familiarization trip organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).

While in Greece the journalists will attend a special event on the island of Kefalonia in the Ionian sea, dedicated to the shipwrecks of World War II. The event will be held between October 25-30 in the village of Skala in collaboration with the GNTO, the Region of the South Aegean and the private sector.

At least one of the Kefalonia Dive Centres has opted out of this junket.

The Skala one, based next to AB Supermarket is involved.

Also based on the other side of AB is a "new this year" Cafe Bar called Perseus, after the submarine. Their menu has the story of the sinking and the rescue of John Capes on it's back page. The establishment is run by the grandchildren of  Evangelos Thomatos who helped take care of John Capes during his time of the Island.

( I hope you don't treat this as an advertisement Maik)

Yesterday (sat 28th) the Journalists were with Pirate Divers of Lassi. Not sure where they dived but possibilities are F495 Landing craft off  Lepada and maybe the wreck of the Ardena between Lassi and Lixouri.

Today, (sun 29th) sea conditions meant plans had to be changed and they went to Karavomilos Lake and Cave with Blue Manta divers from Skala.

I've never been able to do Ardena because of poor sea conditions ( got down to it once but couldn't see anything because of very poor visibility) but the other to are reaaly good dives, so maybe the journos with be impressed.
