Hi ,
I heard recently that every building requires something called an " Energy Performance Certificate " before it can be bought or sold ? :dunno:
Does anyone have any information on this new requirement ?
Post info here - many thanks

A new law came into effect 1st January this year. You now have to have a 10 year energy certificate before you can buy/sell or rent a property long term. When the property is advertised on the web the details need to be available.
I would advise you to speak to your engineer to discuss the paperwork needed. An engineer needs to do a study of the property and take details like heating, boiler, pumps, wood burner, air con units, thickness of glass in windows, width of PVC frames etc. Not sure of the exact cost but expect it to be a fair bit more than a UK energy certificate.

Do they have to break the glass to measure the thickness?
