Greece Gearing Up to Launch New Tourism Campaign in January 2020
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) is getting ready to launch an 8-million-euro campaign for Greek tourism in January 2020.
“We are starting earlier, compared to previous years, with the launch of a dynamic four-month campaign that will target traditional tourism markets in Europe, the US and Canada,” said GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis.
According to Fragakis, 70 percent of the new campaign will be digital and feature different types of ads for each media channel aiming to cover the needs of the different audiences.

”Karavaki,” The Old Greek Tradition of Decorating Boats — Not Trees — at Christmas
Christmas is linked all around the world to the ancient tradition of decorating a Christmas tree with countless ornaments and beautiful lights. However, an old traditional custom in Greece’s islands and coastal regions dictates that people should decorate a boat rather than an evergreen tree at Christmastime.
Despite that nowadays almost every Greek city and household does decorate a Christmas tree, there are still a number of public spaces in Greece where one can see a Christmas boat right next to a tree.
The tradition of the ”Karavaki,” which is Greek for ”small boat,” is deeply rooted in the folkways of a country with a symbiotic relationship with the sea.
In fact, it is safe to say that on many Greek islands, the Christmassy-decorated boats still remain the most popular symbol of this beautiful holiday season.

As yet unconfirmed but seems the closing date for submissions to the land registry for properties on Kefalonia (and Ithaka) has been extended from today until sometime in June. Apparently only around 30% of properties on Kef have so far been registered.

Thanks for the list Maik. Thankfully mine is not on the list but it makes you very unsure that maybe in the future we could find out that none of these Hotpoint washers and dryers are safe.If and when the time comes to replace will seriously think about switching to another brand.Often though these washers and dryers though different brands are made by the same people and often in the Far East(less said)???

I must admit I've always found Hotpoint dryers to be full of hot air......
