Good.

The weather app I have on my phone keeps me up to date with your thunderstorms, but all that and the wobbling should stop soon I'm sure.  Stay safe.

Hope oyu're all still OK.

I don't know if it's linked, but there was an eruption on Mount Etna  on Saturday. I suppose it's possible that whatever started that could be responsible for the Kef 'quakes as well as they are basically on the same faultline.

And still they keep rollling in. On the earthquake site Kef is now just a red blob. Keep safe everyone.

A lot of these we don't feel down this end, BeeTee. Might be a bit different in Lixouri and Argostoli.

I saw something about Etna, only had a quick glance and thought they reckoned the Kef quake triggered Etna but probably makes more sense that Etna erupting could've triggered the 'quake.

Still coming:

Not just a big quake but a lot of aftershocks.

I just checked last September's quake which was 4.5 and we thought that was quite big.  Yesterday's was 5.9.  A difference of 1 on the scale means 10 times stronger or weaker.  So yesterday's was 25.1 times stronger than the quake last September.

Gulp!

Hi everyone hope you are all still ok. Think your earthquake has upset our Crooked Spire. Just been to town ,stood waiting at the bus stop and the clock hands were wizzing round whilst it was chiming the hours ,half hours and the quarters. Thought I was going doolally!!More so than usual. Seriously I bet you can't concentrate to do anything wondering if another big one is coming. Hope it settles down soon. It's the sound of them that I don't like ,I find it quite spooky and unearthly. Hope all our friends in Skala are ok. Thank goodness the old ones from the Pines are back in Athens for the winter as she was trapped in the 1953 one and I am sure she would have been very upset. It must bring back memories for them. Perhaps you can post us some photies when you get out and about? Stay safe all of you ,we are thinking about you and wishing you well Cheers!!!

Heard some people in Lixouri area and Argostoli spent the night in their cars but everything seems pretty calm down here. Thought I might get some pics this morning when I went Sami way but not much different to see. Don't think there's been much we haven't seen before: boulders on roads, cracks in buildings, a few walls and trees down. Heard people can claim for building damage, that might be interesting. Just heard parts of Atheras are being evacuated due to threat of a landslide.

State inspectors on Monday began assessing the considerable damage wreaked on the Ionian island of Cephalonia by Sunday’s 5.9-Richter earthquake even as aftershocks continued to rattle residents.

Schools were to remain closed for a second day Tuesday as checks continued on dozens of damaged buildings and roads were cleared of rocks that tumbled down during landslides.

The bulk of the damage was sustained by the western town of Lixouri and three villages with authorities deciding to evacuate one, Atheras, as a safety precaution.

The island’s archaeological museum in Argostoli also sustained serious damage, according to Culture Ministry sources who said that a large number of clay vessels had fallen to the ground and smashed during the quake.

Interior Minister Yiannis Michelakis led a delegation of government officials dispatched to the island and pledged to do everything possible to “help residents return to normal as soon as possible.”

He pledged 100,000 euros in state aid for the immediate needs of the islanders and the same sum for residents of the nearby island of Ithaca which was also affected by the quake. Another 100,000 euros for each of the islands’ municipalities has also been set aside. Residents of both islands were also extended a three-month amnesty from paying outstanding taxes and other debts to the state.

Despite the aftershocks that continued to shake the island on Monday, seismologists said it appeared increasingly unlikely that a stronger quake would hit the island as the intensity of the tremors was decreasing. But many jittery islanders were reportedly preparing to spend a second night sleeping in town squares or in their cars. The elder residents have not forgotten a 7.2-magnitude quake that struck the island in 1953, killing hundreds of people and destroying virtually all the buildings on the island.

Good Morning Maik 'hope everyone continues to be ok. Looking at the photos of the damage how lucky have you been? It is very distressing to see people's homes so badly affected and many face a long time out of them before they are safe to return. I am surprised that more people have not been seriously hurt or even killed. We hope that soon it will settle down and you can rest peacefully. Please take care ,we are thinking about you all and hoping things improve. Cheers Maik

Conspiracy theories starting to emerge, one of the local political leaders allegedly saying the government is lying about the size of the 'quake.

A tremor measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale rocked the Ionian island of Kefalonia in the early hours of Tuesday morning, in one of the strongest aftershock following Sunday's 5.8 earthquake.

The quake on Tuesday morning struck at 5.12am. Its epicentre was 9km west of Lixouri, the island's second largest town, at a depth of only 2km.

The island has been rocked by dozens of aftershocks since Sunday, forcing many islanders to spend a second night outside of their homes. About a 1,000 people took refuge in a ferry boat that came to the island for that purpose, while others slept in their cars.

Another ferry, with a capacity to sleep 1,300 people, is expected to arrive on Tuesday.

A state of emergency has been declared on the island and schools and other public buildings will remain closed pending inspections by engineers.

On Monday, inspections carried out on 70 homes, found 40 to be unsafe, while of the 21 public buildings inspected, four were deemed unsafe and four had problems.

After it was declared unsafe on Monday, residents of Lixouri old people's home were forced to spend the night in a small chapel before they were transferred to an area within an indoor gym.

The road linking Lixouri with Argostoli, the island's capital, is also closed.
