Kef fire risk 23/05/23: Low (https://civilprotection.gov.gr/arxeio-imerision-xartwn?field_imerominia_harti_value=05%2F23%2F2023)
Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.8945 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1147 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1179 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8971 €UR
Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office (https://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-money).
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Killer whales learn to sink yachts off Gibraltar
Hell-bent on revenge after being hit by boat, an orca named Gladis is now teaching others to attack, researchers believe
A vengeful killer whale called Gladis is leading gangs of orcas into battle with yachts around Gibraltar and has already sunk three boats in Europe.
It may read like something out of Moby Dick, but in this case the truth is stranger than Herman Melville’s fictional tale of the white whale.
Researchers believe that a female orca called White Gladis has been hell-bent on revenge after being traumatised by a collision with a boat or being trapped in illegal fishing nets.
Gladis’s attacks are now being copied by the rest of the killer whale population, which have learnt how to ram vessels from their ringleader.

Seaside town ‘hollowed out’ as residents ‘driven from homes’ by rowdy tourists
Whitstable residents warn town ‘no longer has sense of community’
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/holiday-home-rental-properties-whitstable-b2344201.html
My grandmother moved to Whitstable when I was 4 years old and my Mother went to live there after retiring 30 years
ago, we often had holidays there as children then later often went to visit family.
It seems to me that many of the "residents" who are complaining were actually the "rowdy tourists" who visited a few years earlier
and decided to move there, lured by the fairly short ( for the south east) commute time and lower house prices at that time, many
also bought second homes to rent out on Air BNB.
When my grandmother moved there no-one was considered local until you had lived there for over 25 years :), the real locals
still say "DFL's bought the house next door" or in the summer "High Street is packed with DFL's". That'll be Down From Londoners.
What is crazy is the amount of homes being built when the infrastructure is poor, not enough schools, hospitals, GP's or local work, even before climate change there were yearly hose pipe bans because of lack of water.
