Friends of animals event in Argostoli main square this Sunday afternoon, 08/05/22, organised by Ministry of Education approved teacher Katerina Papapostolou who fosters improved human - animal relations in schools. Event is probably to be conducted in Greek, might be worth a look if you're in the area.

Looks as though the poster is based on the cover of Katerina Papapostolou's latest book, proceeds of which go to animal welfare:

Strikes and demonstrations

On Thursday 12 May, major anti-NATO protests are planned in Athens and several other towns and cities in Greece. These are likely to be disruptive from approximately 6pm. You should expect heavier than usual traffic and severe delays.

In Athens, protesters are expected to gather from around 6pm... In other areas of Greece, protests are scheduled to take place at (all times local):

8pm - Cephalonia
https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/greece/safety-and-security

Not usually any major disruptions, maybe traffic a little slower than usual in Argostoli.

As part of the celebrations of the unification of the Ionian Islands with Greece flags will be flown from government offices, banks, ships in port and, quite likely, private dwellings from the morning of Friday, 20th until the evening of Saturday, 21st May. During that time government offices, banks and ships will be illuminated. Parades as follows:

11:15 - Lixouri main square
11:30 - Skala main street
11:45 - Argostoli main plateia

Amendment to the schedule for tomorrow's celebrations in Lixouri: due to the bereavement of a local inhabitant the dancing and other festivities after the parade have been cancelled.
