Nautical museum in Sami

(1/1)

Misty:
Visited the Nautical Museum in Sami today. A wonderfully eclectic mix of hand built scale models of boats spanning thousands of years of boat history, all with working parts.
From fishing boats to tea clippers plus a model of the Titanic.

The curator, who hand built all of the models, was very informative in describing and showing the working parts of each boat.

The building is easily missed but well worth a visit, plenty of parking
with just his moped parked when we visited.

Couldn't help but admire his enthusiasm and skill.

We visited two years ago, shortly after the museum had opened. Incredible skill and dedication to build so many models.

We also visited the museum, well worth it, great workmanship, we also visited the new Sami museum, it is quite good if you like that type of local history, it is free, the wife asked if there was a donation box and was told there is not one, seems a shame, i am sure people would have donated towards the upkeep.
