Καλό μήνα

Kef fire risk 01/10/22: Medium (https://www.civilprotection.gr/el/imerisios-hartis-provlepsis-kindynoy-pyrkagias-01102022)

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.9298 GBP
1 €UR = $ 0.9852 USD
£1 GBP = 1.0755 €UR
$1 USD = 1.0150 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office (https://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-money).
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Eurasian Beaver now legally protected in England

Eurasian beavers have been recognised as a European protected species in England, making it illegal to capture, kill, injure or disturb them.

The move limits measures previously available to "control" beavers.

Landowners will not be able to damage a burrow or dam without a license from Natural England, for example.

A Greek magnate is investing millions to fly British MPs to Athens and lobby them to overturn UK law and allow the return of the Elgin Marbles.

John Lefas, a Greek plastics magnate, has pledged his personal fortune to establish the Parthenon Project, a scheme aiming to recruit MPs willing to introduce and support a new “Elgin Marbles Act” which will allow the return of ancient artworks.

I imagine that at present there will be quite a lot of voters in the UK who'd prefer the MPs to be kept in Athens permanently instead of the Marbles.
