Authorities probe deaths of children in water-related incidents in Attica
A 10-year-old girl lost her life on Sunday under undisclosed circumstances in a residential complex pool located in the town of Nea Makri on Attica’s eastern coast.
The child was discovered unconscious in the pool and was transported by an EKAV ambulance to a nearby health center, where her death was confirmed.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

Government promise of 40 'new' hospitals by 2030 set to be broken, report says
The government is on track to break a promise to build 40 hospitals by 2030 - defined as new by the government - a report by the public spending watchdog has found.
Delays to projects mean the target is unlikely to be met, with work on buildings in the second cohort of the scheme yet to have started as of May, according to the National Audit Office (NAO).
Critics branded the findings “utterly damning” and accused the government of “woeful progress” despite having tried to “move the goalposts” to meet the deadline.
A recent investigation by ITV News showed that almost half of NHS hospitals in England have been forced to close wards and vital services due to flooding, power cuts and structural problems.

Bid to track down children who dumped 22-year-old cat in bin wrapped in a bag in Norfolk
A 22-year-old cat who was seen being put in a plastic bag and dumped in a bin by children has been reunited with her owners.
Frankie was rescued from the bin at around 5.45pm on Saturday by a neighbour in Wymondham, Norfolk.
The lucky animal was passed on to Feline Care Cat Rescue who set about trying to track down her owners.
People living nearby have been asked to check their CCTV and video doorbell footage in a bid to track down the children responsible.

After heat wave, wildfires threaten seaside homes outside the Greek capital
Greek authorities issued evacuation orders for at least six seaside communities Monday as wildfires threatened vacation homes near Athens, with gusts of wind up to 70 kph (45 mph) pushing flames through hillside scrub and pine forests parched by extreme heat.
Water-dropping planes and helicopters tackled the flames near Lagonisi, some 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of the capital, in an area with thousands of seaside vacation homes.
The fire service reported a second large wildfire in a wooded area near the resort town of Loutraki, some 90 kilometers (55 miles) west of Athens, where a children’s summer camp and rehabilitation center for seniors were evacuated, local officials said.

Greece Detains Man Suspected Of Lighting Wildfire: Fire Service
Greek police on Monday arrested a man suspected of starting an ongoing wildfire near Athens fuelled by a heatwave and strong winds, firefighters said.
"Police carried out the arrest of a foreigner who allegedly caused the fire" in Kouvaras, around 50 kilometres (30 miles) southeast of Athens, said fire service spokesman Yannis Artopios.
