Kefalonia Winemakers Get Together and Form Association

As part of efforts to promote the vineyards and wines of the island of Kefalonia, seven local wineries recently got together to form the Kefalonia Winemakers Association.

Also known as Kefalonia Wines, the association plans to organize activities and events throughout the year with the aim to enhance the brand name and promote the wines of Kefalonia and the nearby island of Ithaki to the public.

“The wines of Kefalonia and the PDO (protected designation of origin) varieties of Robola, Mavrodafni and Moschato are known worldwide for their long tradition and significant role in the culture of the island,” the association said.

“Wine tourism is a priority and the association aims to place Kefalonia among the world’s top wine destinations.”

Covid: Cost of tests 'is too much for people to travel on holiday'

The government has announced plans to safely reopen international travel, but says it cannot yet confirm whether foreign holidays can resume on 17 May.

A traffic light system will be used to categorise countries based on risk, and travellers will need to pay for tests when departing and returning to the UK.

The plans have been met with widespread frustration by the travel industry.

EasyJet says the policy risks rewinding the clock to a time when only wealthy people could afford to travel.

Consumer group Which? estimated that each PCR test - which is just one of the tests needed - could cost about £120 per person.

I imagine it's quite likely that even if the UK did not demand these tests to be done, the country you are going to would want you to have them before allowing entry.

Mentioning no names... I reckon some countries are so desperate for tourism they'd allow people in upon production of a provisional driving licence.

Sounds as though Livathos area is without postpeople, residents advised to collect their mail from the main PO in Argostoli.

Covid-19: People can start thinking about foreign travel - Shapps

He said for the first time in months he was not advising against booking foreign trips.

The government has not yet said which countries will be green, amber or red - but said it would do so by early May.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56682226

OK, book your holiday now, then find the country is in the amber zone, you'll have to isolate for ten days on return. Hmmmm.

Coronavirus news - live: Travel firm suspends holidays until late June over ‘lack of clarity’ from government

Travel firm Jet2 has suspended all flights and holidays up to and including 23 June over uncertainty due to UK government travel proposals, the CEO has announced.

It comes as travel industry leaders criticised the government’s new plans to allow international travel to continue from 17 May as unaffordable and risked “making flying only for the wealthy”.

Female from Lixouri was transferred to Agios Andreas Hospital in Patras yesterday evening after being diagnosed in need of hospital treatment due to covid-19. At the time no beds were available on the eleven bed coronavirus ward at Argostoli hospital, however two patients were discharged this morning.

Not clear if this was the figure before or after Jet2's decision, more likely before: 1,575 flights expected to land on Kefalonia during summer 2021, of which 1,017 from the UK.

I went to collect my mail and they wouldn't even look for it.
