Total cases of monkeypox in Greece rise to 50
The total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of monkeypox in Greece rose to 50 according to a report released by the National Organization for Public Health (EODY) on Thursday.
According to the report, all confirmed cases are men, aged 19-59, out of which 16 reported travelling abroad during the incubation period of the virus (32%).
It also noted that those affected by the virus have either fully recovered or are recovering in generally good condition.

Greece, Egypt And Saudi Arabia To Launch Joint 2030 World Cup Bid
Greece, Egypt and Saudi Arabia will submit a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup, according to Egyptian media. If successful, this would make it the first World Cup to be hosted across continents, in this case Europe, Africa and Asia.
Cairo 24 reported that a tripartite meeting was held to determine the final arrangements for the bid to host the event, as the three countries agreed to submit a joint bid for the world’s premier football “date” at national team level.

The first self-driving cars could be on British roads by next year, said Grant Shapps, as he laid out the timetable for a technological motoring revolution in the UK.
The Transport Secretary said the first cars, coaches and lorries with self-driving features such as automatic lane and speed control could be deployed on UK motorways in 2023.

Winemaker accused of passing off cheap bottles as quality vintages in £22m fraud
A winemaker was accused of masterminding a £22 million fraud by passing off millions of bottles of lower grade wine as better-quality vintages in what is believed to be the largest fraud of its kind in Spain.
A husband, his wife and her sister and three other executives allegedly pretended their wine was from the Denomination of Origin of Terra Alta and Priorat and other types of wine, when in fact it was the inferior grade Reserva de la Tierra.
The company flooded supermarkets in Spain with 15 million bottles of lower-quality wine and even sold some in the United States and China, where Priorat wine is popular, court papers said.

Apple has released Safari 15.6.1 for macOS Big Sur and Catalina to fix a zero-day vulnerability exploited in the wild to hack Macs.
This zero-day vulnerability is the same one that was patched by Apple yesterday for macOS Monterey and iPhone/iPads.
This is the seventh zero-day vulnerability fixed by Apple in 2022.

Almost one in two (44.3%) Greek respondents in the World Values Survey (WVS) said they believe hell exists.
Almost 82% of Greek respondents said religion is very or fairly important to them... Most Greeks (91.7%) said they believe in God...
However, belief in God seems to have decreased since the survey began.

Liz Truss called for patients to be charged to see their GP, a 2009 document she penned has revealed.
Its recommendations for cutting £28bn in a single year included introducing user charges to see a GP, cutting the pay of hospital “registrars, consultants, GPs and managers” by 10 per cent, and scrapping “pensioner gimmicks, such as the winter fuel allowance”.

But it was written thirteen years ago and she changes her (claimed) beliefs more often than most people change TV stations. Earlier today a driver heading into Poros lost control of his car just before Poros gorge and the vehicle went down the embankment before nesting in dense vegetation. Rather unlucky as it happened just before a stretch of safety barrier. Driver shocked but physically uninjured, car hoisted out by crane and taken away on a flatbed.

A man who murdered his wife on their wedding night before dumping her body in a suitcase has been jailed for at least 21 years.
Thomas Nutt, 46, strangled diminutive 52-year-old Dawn Walker at their home in Lightcliffe, near Halifax, West Yorkshire, within hours of their wedding on 27 October last year.

Unique twins born with different skin colours at Nottingham City Hospital
When Ayon and Azirah were born at Nottingham City Hospital in April this year mum Chantelle Broughton said she was shocked.
The 29-year-old's son Ayon was born with fair skin and green eyes, meanwhile her daughter Azirah had dark skin and brown eyes.
There is a one in 500 chance that an interracial couple will have twins with different skin colours, according to population geneticist Dr. Jim Wilson from the University of Edinburgh as reported by the BBC article in 2011.
Professor James McInerney chair in evolutionary biology at the University of Nottingham's School of Life Sciences, said: "The twins are not identical (monozygotic) twins.
"Therefore, they have different genetics – they are as closely related to one another as two siblings.
"It probably feels quite unusual because they are twins, but in reality it’s not so unusual."

Concern over huge rise in fires caused by e-bike and e-scooter batteries
An ITV News investigation found fresh evidence of a link between hundreds of fires across the country - findings which led to new warnings about one of the fastest growing transport trends.
E-bike and e-scooter batteries pack a lot of energy into a small space, but if they get damaged or are charged incorrectly the consequences can be dire. Our new Freedom of Information findings show an alarming rise in the number of fires caused by e-bike and e-scooter batteries. There were 40 fires in 2020, an amount which more than doubled last year to 106.
And this year, there have been 203 incidents all over the country, meaning an increase of more than 400% in two years.
