Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9107 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1221 USD
£1 GBP = 1.0981 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8912 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Water bills to increase by most in almost 20 years from April

Water bills are set to get the biggest increase in almost 20 years from April.

The annual bill for an average household in England and Wales will hit £448, industry body Water UK has said.

The 7.5% increase means customers will pay on average £31 more than last year.

Water UK's director of policy Stuart Colville said the average increase to bills worked out at about 60p a week.

"However, we know that any increase is unwelcome, particularly at the moment," he said.

"Anyone with worries should contact their water company or go to supportontap.org for advice, and it's worth remembering that water companies will never cut anyone off, or make them use a prepayment meter."

But watchdog the Consumer Council for Water (CCW) said that many customers who cannot afford their bill "slip through the net" due to a "postcode lottery" of regional variations in billing.

Some households could face rises significantly above the average, while other increases could be below.

Funeral of F-4 co-pilot held in Tripoli

The funeral of a Hellenic Air Force officer aboard the two-seater F-4E Phantom II fighter jet that crashed in the Ionian Sea on Monday was held at the Peloponnesian city of Tripoli on Thursday.

The plane crashed in the sea during a training exercise Monday and the body of the co-pilot, 29-year-old Lieutenant Marios Touroutsikas, was located shortly afterward. Air Force rescuers recovered the body of the second airman, Efstathios Tsitlakidis, on Wednesday.

Couple leaves baby at airport check-in to avoid paying more to board flight!

Airline staff at an Israeli airport were shocked when a couple decided to leave their baby at a check-in desk, after a disagreement over having to buy a separate ticket for their child.

The incident happened at the Ryanair desk of Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion Airport on Tuesday, the airline confirmed.

Local news outlet KAN reported that the couple were travelling on Belgian passports to Brussels, when they discovered they had to pay extra for a seat for their baby.

Ryanair said the couple had not paid for a ticket for the child in advance.

Airport staff told local press that they had simply left their child in the baby stroller by the desk and walked on to passport control.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: "The check-in agent at Ben Gurion Airport contacted Airport Security, who retrieved these passengers, and this is now a matter for local police.”

Chinese Airspace will Soon see Flying Cars: First eVTOL Flight Permit for XPENG X2 Granted
Chinese Airspace will soon see low-altitude flying cars. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has issued a special flight permit for the XPeng X2 flying car.

Currently, the license allows the vehicle to carry out only manned driving tests to accumulate data and experience based on which the company will then mass produce the vehicle.

The special permit does not allow passenger flights and can be used in specific areas only.

Build for low-altitude urban commute, the flying car weighs 560kgs and can fly for up to 35 minutes non-stop. The vehicle has reported a maximum flight speed of 130 km/ hour.

XPeng Aeroht has designed the vehicle for low-altitude city flights that can be used for sightseeing and medical emergencies.
