The harsh weather that hit Greece on Saturday night left one man dead in the floods that followed the heavy rainfall on the island of Zakynthos.

A 33-year-old man who was missing since 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, was found dead in a flooded ravine. Earlier, police had found his car in a flooded ditch close to the island’s village of Vanatos.

Zakynthos and Attica were hit the hardest, with many houses flooding and cars damaged. On Zakynthos, farmlands were destroyed, while in the town of Zakynthos tons of garbage drifted in the waters as the landfill is closed and mountains of trash had piled up on the town’s streets.
