Two new cases of coronavirus on Kefalonia announced yesterday by EODY.

A couple of accidents on Kef yesterday: a motorbike collided with a young girl on her bicycle in the main square at Argostoli, girl taken to hospital as a precaution, and a 20 y-o tourist was injured when he came off his motorbike in Vlachata.

Also heard that a 45 y-o visitor from Romania was transferred from Kef by air ambulance after suffering a heart attack.

Greece Launches "COVID Free" App for Checking Virus Certificates

During Tuesday's press conference to break down the measures announced by the prime minister, Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis presented the digital app 'Covid Free GR', which will be used by places of entertainment to check if the European certificates of immunisation against Covid presented by their customers are genuine.

The app will be available for download on Tuesday, to either iOS or Android phones or tablets and is provided free of charge via the Hellenic Republic's official account in App Store and Google Play.

Greece to require vaccination at indoor restaurants

Greece will require customers at indoor restaurants, bars and cafes to prove they have been vaccinated against COVID-19, the government announced on Tuesday to combat an infection surge.

Under the new regulations, which will remain in force until August, all customers at indoor bars and restaurants will have to be seated. Those dining outdoors will not require proof of vaccination or a test.

An innovative system that can predict where a fire is expected to break out on Greek territory in the next 24 hours with a spatial analysis of up to 500 meters was created by researchers at the Beyond Earth Observation and Satellite Monitoring Center of the National Observatory of Athens. The system produces daily detailed forecast maps, utilizing the most modern technologies in the field of satellite imaging, while its pilot forecasts have already been verified with absolute success in the recent fires of Cephalonia and Nea Styria in Evia.
