Police nab man abusing stray cat
Police authorities in Thessaloniki arrested a 64-year-old man for abusing a stray cat and fined him 5,000 euros, local reports said on Friday.
The man reportedly kicked the cat on Nikolaou Germanou Street in front of passers-by, prompting a police intervention.

Google Chrome's latest critical security update is now available
The update patches 10 security issues in the web browser, including one that is rated with the highest severity rating of critical.
Chrome desktop users may want to update the browser to the latest version immediately to protect it against potential exploits that target these vulnerabilities.
To do so on the desktop, select Menu > Help > About Google Chrome, or load chrome://settings/help directly in the browser's address bar.
Google Chrome displays the current version of the browser and runs a check for updates. It should pick up the new security update for the browser and start the download and installation of it automatically. A restart is required to complete the installation of the upgrade.

Greece: Construction of Evros Fence to Be Completed by the End of 2023
The Greek authorities have said that the construction of the additional 35 kilometres of the Evros fence at the border between Greece and Türkiye is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The news was announced by the Minister of Citizens Protection of Greece, Takis Theodorikakos, who stressed that the construction of the fence is the most effective measure to prevent irregular migrant entries into the country.
Even though the fence is at the border of Greece with Türkiye, Minister Theodorikakos said that its construction does not only benefit Greece but the other countries of the European Union as it will make it harder for migrants to reach the bloc irregularly.

Bay Off Southern Greece Becomes Cog in Russia’s Oil Supply Chain
Millions of barrels of Russian crude and fuels have been switched between tankers just a few miles off the coast of Greece, one of a series of workarounds that traders have used to overcome European Union sanctions against Moscow.
At least 23 million barrels of Russian crude and additional volumes of refined fuels have been transfered from one tanker to another in the Bay of Lakonikos since the start of this year, according to tanker tracking by Bloomberg. Greek authorities say their scope to intervene is limited because the activity is happening outside of a six-mile limit to the country’s territorial waters in the area.
Traders and shipping companies have found a multitude of ways to ensure Russian oil can flow and this is just the latest example.
