Argostoli made two arrests on Saturday, a 38 year old local woman for trafficking heroin and a 34 y-o local man for buying. A search of the woman's home revealed a small amount of smuggled cigs and tobbaco and two bangers.

Argostoli coast guard yesterday arranged transfer of a crew member on the Bahamas-flagged Norwegian Jade from Argostoli bay to Argostoli hospital yesterday. Condition unknown.

Coast Guard conducting an investigation in to the fire and subsequent sinking of the Meltemi off Kakkavos, Mounda bay. Expected rumours circulating (insurance job).

Edit: Yes, I know the saying... "There's no smoke without fire"

'Substantial' El Nino event predicted

The last El Nino five years ago was linked with monsoons in Southeast Asia, droughts in southern Australia, the Philippines and Ecuador, blizzards in the United States, heatwaves in Brazil and extreme flooding in Mexico.

The consequences of El Nino are much less clear for Europe and the UK.
