Flybe will wind up company if shareholders reject sale

Flybe has warned shareholders it will wind up the company if they do not back a sale to a consortium led by Virgin Atlantic and Stobart Air.

The airline said failure to approve a sale would mean investors were unlikely to get anything for their shares.

The airline's board agreed the £2.2m sale to Connect Airways group last month, but the deal needs investor approval at a meeting on 4 March.

Flybe acknowledged the offer of 1 penny per share was "disappointingly low".

However, it said it was the only rescue plan on the table.

Flu virus has claimed 39 lives since October

Thirty-nine people in Greece have died after contracting flu since last October, most of whom had not been vaccinated, according to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO).

The overwhelming majority of those cases involved people in high-risk groups – the elderly, young children and people with chronic ailments.

Health authorities again on Thursday urged people to get a flu jab and recommended that members of the public that develop symptoms should consult a doctor within 48 hours.

Health authorities said on Thursday that 2,226,530 vaccines have been imported into the country.

According to Yiannis Baskozos, general secretary of the Health Ministry, another 50,000 vaccines have been ordered and will be available at pharmacies by the end of next week.

Vacation rentals' registration deadline set for Feb 28

Homeowners leasing their properties through platforms like Airbnb or HomeAway have until February 28 to register these assets with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).

Owners can also use the authority's online platform to correct or amend any details pertaining to the property they are offering as a vacation rental.

The authority has provided a list of frequently asked questions and answers on its website, www.aade.gr, though the service is only available in Greek.

New Phishing Attack Uses Google Translate as Camouflage

A phishing campaign that attempts to steal Google account and Facebook credentials has been discovered that utilizes Google Translate as camouflage on mobile browsers.

These phishing emails pretend to be alerts from Google with a subject of "Security Alert" and state that they have detected your account being logged into from a new Windows device. It then prompts you to learn more about what they detected by clicking on the "Consult the activity" button.

When a user clicks on the link, they will be brought to a Google Translate page that opens up a remote phishing site that pretends to be a Google Account login. On desktop browsers, it can easily be spotted that the phishing page is being shown through Google Translate.

For mobile browsers, though, it is much harder to detect as Google Translate shows a minimal interface when on mobile devices.

If anyone's looking for an inexpensive smartphone ebuyer are offering the Samasung Galaxy S5 16GB Smartphone for £99.99 - it's an old model running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, EOL was October 2017 so probably not a good idea to do internet banking or anything like on it. But still a good 'phone for that price.

Allegedly, Alpha Bank has launched procedures for the auction of a hotel on Kefalonia in April at an initial price of 1,330,000 euros. Haven't heard which one it's alleged to be (Garden Village?)

Satirical news website the Daily Mash sold for £1.2m

The site has occasionally spread confusion, notably when Sky News inadvertently read out a spoof Daily Mash headline claiming the former London mayor Ken Livingstone had a pet newt called Adolf, at the height of claims about antisemitism in the Labour party.

Woman believes 83 Facebook friends actually give a toss about her birthday#

A WOMAN has convinced herself that all the 83 friends who wished her a happy birthday on Facebook really mean it.

Emma Bradford was overjoyed to find messages from so many people, although the vast majority would have taken no more than five seconds to write.

She said: “It’s times like this when you find out who your true friends are. My sister only bought me some jewellery but Mark at work went to all the trouble of typing ‘happy brithdag x’.

“And a girl I went to primary school with posted three birthday cake emojis – how sweet is that?

“My pathetic husband wrote me a heartfelt message about how much he loves me in an actual card but couldn’t be bothered to put it on social media. What a bastard.

“I want to thank everyone for the messages. It’s lovely to feel popular – especially with people from companies I worked for years ago who I only spoke to twice anyway.”

Francesca Ryan, who posted ‘Have a good one, hun’, said: “Is Emma that boring cow I met in the pub once, or am I thinking of a different one?”

Midsomer introduces police stop and search powers

By Hugh Dunnett, Crime Correspondent

Police in the village of Midsomer will get special stop and search after murders rose to four a week.

Parliament has made special exceptions for the Oxfordshire village, where residents are afraid to go to the church, paper shop or library for fear of being slaughtered by crazed men in corduroy trousers and women in Laura Ashley or Boden tunics, wielding knives or shotguns.

"It’s turned into Midsomer Madness," said Chief Superintendent Tom Barnaby. "The council is considering building a wall between Midsomer and Causton. In theory, we will be stopping all black people and white people, although I have never actually seen a person of colour in any of the local villages.https://www.suffolkgazette.com/news/midsomer-police/

“We won’t just be searching for knives and guns. We need to be wary of poisoned pots of blackberry jam and elderberry wine, as well as Semtex inside library books, ancient statues laced with Novichok and razor blades hidden in flower arrangements.

“My warning to these murderers is that we are going all-out to get them and they will face justice. We do not care about their so-called human rights. We will stop anyone who looks suspicious whether they be the vicar or a band of passing circus folk.”

Lorraine Fisher, 34, who runs the Midsomer Macrame Collective, said: “We welcome this initiative. Villagers have been afraid to leave their rose-covered cottages for fear of being slain. We need more Bobbies on the beat and several more coroners in green overalls and shower caps to cope with the crime here.”

A spokesman for Jeremy Corbyn said: “Stop and search should only be used in exceptional circumstances. We need to look at the reasons behind these crimes, like poverty and lack of opportunity to reach the top of the Midsomer Victoria Sponge Society or Lace-Making Group, which can make people feel marginalised and driven to crime.”
