Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9155 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1021 USD
£1 GBP = 1.0923 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9074 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

School massacre plots foiled in Britain, counter-terror police reveal
A senior police officer said that eight 'late stage' terror plots were foiled last year, several of which were 'goal-line saves'

School massacre plots inspired by US rampages have been repeatedly thwarted by British police in recent years, the country’s most senior counter-terrorism officer has revealed.

Matt Jukes, the head of counter-terrorism policing, warned that investigators were finding an increasing amount of material glorifying school shootings shared by young people online.

Hundreds of reports about potential school attacks have been made to the police terrorist hotline - a “toxic” trend Mr Jukes said was being driven by “the visibility of attacks in the US”.

Trainee train driver rescues puppy on London tracks mid-lesson

A trainee train driver in the middle of a lesson stopped to rescue a puppy on the tracks of a busy London railway.

Stefan Hug, who only started learning to drive a train in January, halted a Southern service from Beckenham Junction to London Bridge on Wednesday morning after seeing the puppy running alongside the train.

The trainee and his teacher collected the uninjured female puppy safely from the tracks, brought her on to a nearby platform and fed her some ham. Authorities are now searching for her owner.

Greece's Digital Work Card extended to insurance, security sectors

The Digital Work Card introduced by the labour ministry has been extended to the insurance and security firm sectors from Thursday, adding an additional 32,000 employees to the system that digitally tracks employee working hours.

The employees will declare their arrival at work and their departure and this declaration will be digitally transmitted to the "Ergani II" IT system.

According to the labour ministry, this will ensure that legal work hours are observed and record any overtime, ensuring that companies compete on equal terms.

The digital card has already been in use in banks and supermarkets employing more than 250 employees since the summer. It will gradually be extended to industry, public utilities, tourism and the food services' sector.

Loch Lomond beavers: Two kits die in 'otter attack'

Two baby beavers have died less than a month after the mammals were brought to Loch Lomond in a biodiversity push.

Seven beavers – an adult pair and five young offspring - were reintroduced to the nature reserve after being moved from Tayside in January.

However, RSPB staff discovered that one of the animals had died when they spotted an otter and a dead kit while viewing remote camera footage late last week.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that it had been preyed upon by an otter.

A nurse in a children’s home in northern Greece has been fired from her position following accusations that she administered a sedative gel to children.
