Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9145 GBP
1 €UR = $1.0923 USD
£1 GBP = 1.0935 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9155 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

David Harrison Robinson, 83, and Lucretia Robinson, 80, missing from their home in Nestoros, Messinia, since 23 January. Last seen driving an electric blue 2009 Opel (Vauxhall) Agila, registration KMT 7738.

Appears that two bodies have been discovered in a ravine on the Taygetos mountain range on the Peloponnese.

Thanks for that Maik. We have a local FB group here who claim to share Greek and Kefalonia news, but with the biggest news news in recent Greek history they seem more interested in promoting their mate's fish and chip shop.

Anger boils over train crash in Greece, as audio released of driver being told to ignore red light

After a train station manager in Larissa was arrested in connection to the collision, Greek authorities on Thursday made public striking dispatch recordings that show one of the train drivers receiving instructions to ignore a red light.

“Proceed through red traffic light exit until traffic light entry of Neon Poron,” the station master is heard saying.

“Vasilis, am I good to go?” the train driver responds, to which the train master says “Go, go.”

In a second conversation, the station master can be heard ordering an employee to keep one of the trains on the same track.

“Shall I turn it now?” the employee asks.

“No, no, because 1564 is on this route,” the station master says.

The station master has been charged with mass deaths through negligence and causing grievous bodily harm through negligence. Upon arrest he blamed the collision on a technical fault, though later admitted to “making a mistake.”

Greece: station manager over age limit for job, media

The 59-year-old man in Larissa who was arrested as part of an investigation into a railway disaster on Tuesday night in which 57 people died was allegedly appointed station manager at the beginning of this year although he was over the age limit set by the job application. Candidates were allegedly not supposed to be older than 42, according to the website of Kathimerini, which first published a report on the man charged with manslaughter by negligence.

The station manager, according to the report, was employed for several years by the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) as a warehouse worker. Then in 2013, as part of a program to cut jobs, he was transferred to another public agency and only at the beginning of this year, after a six-month-long training course, he was appointed train station manager in Larissa.

Meanwhile, the train station of Larissa was searched on Friday morning by police as part of the investigation into the causes of the disaster. Police seized "all documents that can help the investigation", a spokesperson said.
