No measures taken against tax dodging

The budget shortfall keeps increasing after the first five months of the year, as revenues by end-May lagged by 650 million euros and little to nothing is being done to combat tax evasion.

The problem of revenues is likely to grow considerably by the end of this month.

Notably, the crackdown of tax dodging had been one of the central pledges of SYRIZA before the January election, but its fulfillment is yet to be seen.

How Greek is your souvlaki? Not very, apparently!

A large portion of souvlaki meet is imported

The national food of Greece, souvlaki, is not as Greek as people believe. Greece’s daily To Vima noted that 190,000 tones of the 300,000 tons of meat used annually to create souvlaki is imported. The cost amounts to half a billion euros.

The basic supplier of souvlaki meet is Danish Crown that has an annual turnover of 8 bln euros, making it the larget in Europe and second-largest in the world.

I don't think all Greek yoghurt contains Greek milk, for that matter.

Heard the ticket office at Melissani has been moved slightly to give more shade to people waiting to enter, at Drogarati entrance and exit has been made slightly easier in an attempt to make it more suitable for the elderly / infirm.

Spring cleaning continuing in Sami.

And as for Olive Oil -I am reliably informed there's often quite a large amount of Popeye inside.   :oki:
