Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9089 GBP
1 €UR = $1.0952 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1002 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9131 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Test results from the Forensic Investigations Directorate, Department of Biological Materials Analysis of the Hellenic Army reveal that the partial remains of a human skeleton discovered in the sea near Araxos Naval Fort on 17 September are those of a 43 y-o Greek national whose car was found abandoned at the Rio-Antirrio bridge on 28 April. This coincides with a report from a passenger on a Rio-Antirrio ferry who saw someone fall into the sea from the bridge.

'Nepo Babies' Explained: What They Are, and Why Everyone's Talking About Them

There's a term flying around the internet right now: "nepo babies." Don't know what it means? Well, it's not a compliment. Here's what it means and why it's showing up everywhere.

"Nepo" stands for "nepotism," the practice of advancing in the world because of who you're related to, especially when it comes to jobs. And while it's possible to tag someone in any industry as a "nepo baby," the ones who generally make headlines are those in the entertainment industry.

Might they also be talented in their own right? Of course. But were they given special attention, auditions and more because at least one parent is a household name? You can probably count on it.
https://www.cnet.com/culture/nepo-babies-explained-what-they-are-and-why-everyones-talking-about-them/

Some examples are:  actress/actor Bridget Fonda, daughter of Peter Fonda, son of Henry Fonda;  Jane Fonda, son of Henry;  Angelina Jolie, daughter of Jon Voight;  Colin Hanks, son of Tom;  Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis & Demi Moore;  Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, sons of Michael Sheen;  Michael Douglas, son of Kirk.

Mostly it applies to Hollywood but not exclusively. UK famous offspring include Joely Richardson, daughter of Vanessa Redgrave, daughter of Sir Michael;  Linus Roache, son of William (a.k.a. Ken Barlow);  Joe Armstrong, son of Alun (Brian Lane in New Tricks).

Nor does it apply exclusively to acting, e.g Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham are models, as is father David. King Charles was another to get a head start

And, as the son of God, Jesus got a leg up the ladder, too  ;)

Bear rescued by Ukrainian troops does its bit to raise front-line morale
Soldiers are being sent updates about Bakhmut, who was locked in a cage but is now settling into a new life at a forest sanctuary

A bear rescued by Ukrainian soldiers will finally be able to enjoy a silent night this Christmas after enduring relentless Russian shelling in the besieged front-line city of Bakhmut.

Volodymyr Zelensky’s troops discovered Bakhmut the bear - named after the city in wartorn Donetsk where it was found - in a small, damaged concrete cage in a private garden.

They swiftly adopted the distressed and malnourished beast; even feeding it from their rations until help arrived in a place synonymous with the brutality of Vladimir Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine.

Bakhmut was spirited away from the conflict zone by road in a daring escape by transit van.

Wild Animal Rescue then took the bear to a new home, Bear Sanctuary Domazhyr, which is run by the charity Four Paws.
