Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9069 GBP
1 €UR = $1.0861 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1027 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9207 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Why Greece still has costly power rates

For the second week in a row, Greece stands on the European map of wholesale electricity markets as the only country that does not reflect the significant de-escalation of the gas price at the Dutch TTF hub, which has returned to the levels before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The price of a megawatt-hour in the Greek electricity market is still the highest in Europe.

Elgin Marbles could soon be returned to Greece in landmark deal
British Museum chairman George Osborne is understood to have drawn up an agreement with Athens as part of a 'cultural exchange'

The Elgin Marbles could soon be returned to Greece as the British Museum closes in on a landmark deal.

UK law prevents treasures from being legally given away by the museum, but George Osborne, its chairman, is understood to have have drawn up an agreement which would repatriate the antiquities as part of a “cultural exchange”.

The deal negotiated with Greek officials would effectively be a loan agreement under which the Elgin Marbles could be moved from London to Athens “sooner rather than later”, sources said.

Sources deny Sculptures deal report

Sources within the Culture Ministry have dismissed a report by Bloomberg on Tuesday that the British Museum and Athens’ Acropolis Museum are nearing a deal that would see the Parthenon Sculptures returned to Greece over time as part of a cultural exchange.

EU recommends pre-flight testing of passengers from China

European Union government officials recommended on Wednesday that passengers flying from China to the EU should have a negative Covid-19 test before they board, as Beijing plans to ease travel restrictions despite a wave of new Covid infections.

The recommendation comes from the EU’s Integrated Political Crisis Response group (IPCR), which is a body made up of officials from the EU’s 27 governments, and is in line with a recommendation made earlier by the European Commission.

China plans to ease travel restrictions on Jan 8, despite a wave of new infections which has left Chinese hospitals and funeral houses overwhelmed.

Meta fined €390m over use of data for targeted ads

Meta has been fined €390m euros (£346m) for breaking EU data rules.

The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) says the way Meta asked permission to use peoples' data for ads on Facebook and Instagram was unlawful.

Meta, which owns both platforms, has three months to change how it obtains and uses data to target ads.

Meta says it is "disappointed" and intends to appeal, stressing that the decision does not prevent personalised advertising on its platforms.

The regulator said that Facebook and Instagram can not "force consent" by saying consumers have to accept how their data is used, or leave the platform.

Privacy campaigners say the decision is a major victory and means Meta will have to give users real choice over how their data is used to target online advertisements.
