Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9072 GBP
1 €UR = $1.0917 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1023 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9160 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

At the end of each olive harvest year, the World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wines and Spirits (WAWWJ) collects and ranks all the olive oils that have been distinguished in 32 recognized international competitions in every continent, for their taste and quality, with the method of blind tasting, based on the rules of the International Olive Council.

The 1st place in the world for 2022, as a company - producer of gourmet olive oils, was won by Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms, from Sparta Laconia, while they were awarded with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, in the TOP 5 Flavored Oils of the World 2022, for their quality and taste.

World’s first vaccine for honey bees gets US government approval
Vaccine is incorporated into the royal jelly by worker bees who feed it to the queen bee

The world’s first vaccine for honey bees has been given a conditional licence for use by the US Department of Agriculture to protect the insects from a deadly bacterial disease.

Honey bees are a critical component of the world’s food supply, and are responsible for nearly a third of global production, as several crops rely on insect pollination for high yields.

In the US alone, some estimates suggest honey bees are responsible for the annual pollination of at least £14bn worth of crops.

Single-use plastic cutlery and plates to be banned in England
‘A plastic fork can take 200 years to decompose’, said environment secretary Thérèse Coffey

Single-use items such as plastic cutlery, plates and trays are to be banned in England in a bid to reduce pollution, the government has confirmed.

Figures suggest that every year England uses about 1.1bn single-use plates and 4.25bn pieces of such cutlery, only 10% of which are recycled after being used.

According to research, plastic items relating to takeaway food and drink, including food containers and cutlery, make up the largest share of litter in the world’s oceans.

Similar bans have already been made in Scotland and Wales, while the UK government banned single-use plastic straws, stirrers and cotton buds in England in 2020.

However it appears the new move is not comprehensive. According to the Daily Mail, the ban will cover plastic plates, bowls and trays used for food and drink eaten at a restaurant, cafe or takeaway but not in settings such as supermarkets and shops.

Allegations of mass poisonings of cats in Vlakhata, specifically in the area around Petros supermarket and EasyRent car hire. Villagers who feed the strays/pets believe it's a fellow local rather than someone coming in from outside the area.
