Ministry issues circular banning beach gatherings

The Ministry of Finance’s General Secretariat for Public Property issued a circular to Greece’s municipalities on Friday reiterating a ban that was enacted in May on beach parties and other such gatherings.

May’s decision says that the use of public beach, river and lake coasts is restricted to snack bars, cafes and water sports centers.

It also stipulated that the use of powerful audio and lighting equipment is prohibited and that any violations will incur a fine.

Former PM A. Samaras’ close aide linked to 5.5-mln-euro tax evasion
Do birds of a feather flock together or was the former conservative ND PM unaware of what his right hand man was doing?

Stavros Papastavrou, the former close aide of prime minister Antonis Samaras, has been summoned to appear before a public prosecutor after August 15. He will be asked to testify concerning a case linked to the ‘Lagarde list’ of Greeks with bank accounts at a Swiss branch of HSBC. He was called to answer questions as a suspect for tax evasion following the discovery of some 5.5 million euros in a HSBC account in his name.

On Friday, he failed to appear before the prosecutor in person but was represented by his lawyer, who asked for additional time to prepare his testimony in the case.

What a surprise...    No wonder Greece "lost" the list.
