'Open banking' revolution could lead to scams and pricing rip-offs, experts warn

Consumers taking advantage of an online banking revolution from next week face a heightened risk of bank transfer scams, experts have warned.

From Saturday new rules will force financial institutions to share detailed customer data with each other, in order to let people compare deals and see all their money on one screen.

According to consumer groups while this so-called "Open Banking" scheme is likely to help millions of consumers save money, many others could find themselves the victim of scams and "rip off" deals.

Missing Cornwall cat Winston found after 15 years

A cat has been reunited with his owners after going missing 15 years ago.

Winston was handed in to a vet in Launceston, 35 miles away from his home in Carlyon Bay.

Vets said they were able to trace him to his owners Jan and Pete Barnes due to his microchip.

Japanese firm Takata at centre of largest auto parts recall in history after faulty air bags linked to deaths
Explosions caused by unsafe parts on inflators linked to 20 deaths worldwide

Models manufactured by Honda, Toyota, Audi, BMW, Daimler Vans, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Jaguar-Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru and Tesla are affected.

Transport authorities worldwide have deemed Takata inflators containing the chemical ammonium nitrate are unsafe.

The chemical is used to create a small explosion to fill airbags quickly in the event of a crash.

However, it can deteriorate when stored at high temperatures or humidity causing it to burn too fast and blow apart its metal canister.

This explosion can then spray hot shrapnel at drivers and passengers inside the vehicle.
