Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = €   1.1455
1 USD = €   0.8402

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

School bans teachers from using ‘good’ and ‘bad’ to describe behaviour
Headteacher says he does not want teachers ‘to be shouty and make pupils feel guilty’

Dr Julian Murphy from Loughborough Amherst School, an independent school for pupils aged 4 to 18, told the i the move aimed to “take the emotional heat out of language” by avoiding “emotional words”.

Teachers at the Leicestershire school would instead be asked to describe behaviour as “skillful” or “unskillfill”, according to the report.

The Hellenic Coast Guard Unified Coordination Centre for Search and Rescue informed local Coast Guard around 18:00 last night of a sailing yacht with three passengers on board that was stranded south of Vrachynari beach, Paliki. The boat was located near Kounopetra and occupants taken to Mantzavinato hospital as a precaution. No marine pollution observed and recovered boat prohibited from sailing until re-certified as seaworthy.

Bill to weaken mandate of environmental inspectors

State environmental inspectors will be demoted to an advisory capacity, according to a controversial bill prepared by Greece’s Environment Ministry. This means that inspectors will no longer be able to impose fines on violators of environment guidelines.

Fines will be imposed only in very serious violations and after taking into account various factors unrelated to the case.

Strange incident at the Naval Academy in Argostoli last night: around twenty hooded/masked individuals armed with sticks and stones 'invaded' the residential part of the property. The Commander and Service Office were physically attacked when they stood their ground in front of the mob, as a result the Service Officer discharged his weapon as a warning. Police arrived but the attackers had quickly dispersed, leaving their crude weapons behind. The two officers were taken to hospital for precautionary treatment.
