Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9072 GBP
1 €UR = $1.0917 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1023 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9160 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Caroline Crouch killed by Greek husband because of his drug smuggling, father claims
David Crouch says incarcerated son-in-law Babis Anagnostopoulos wrote him a letter about Athens killing

The father of Caroline Crouch, the British woman who was murdered by her Greek helicopter pilot husband as she lay asleep in their Athens home, has claimed his daughter died because her self-confessed killer got involved in drug smuggling.

Speaking publicly for the first time, David Crouch, 79, said his incarcerated son-in law, Babis Anagnostopoulos, had gone so far as to give a detailed account of the events that led to Caroline’s death in a typewritten letter.

Two-legged fox does not need rescuing after living on Spam and dog food
Neighbours reveal they struggled to get anyone to believe the animal balances in such a ‘balletic poise’

A two-legged fox that became an online sensation after being filmed performing a “handstand” does not need rescuing after surviving on a diet of dog food and Spam, experts have said.

The wild animal, believed to be around a year old, was spotted in the garden of Philip Carter, 71 and his wife Jane, 72, at their home in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, in December.

It has not been seen since, but on Thursday it emerged that neighbours had also been feeding the fox but had struggled to get anyone to believe them.

Mike Dilger, a wildlife expert who has appeared on BBC’s Springwatch and The One Show, said that the best approach to the “amazing survivalist” would be to “live and let live” rather than intervene.

Be a shame to confine it but can it outrun a pack of dogs?

Prince Harry reveals that he killed 25 people in Afghanistan
In his memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex says that in combat he did not think of the 25 as ‘people’ but as ‘chess pieces’

Prince Harry says he flew on six missions that resulted in “the taking of human lives”, something of which he is neither proud nor ashamed.

He writes in his book, Spare, that in the heat of combat he did not think of the 25 as “people” but instead as “chess pieces” that had been taken off the board.

It is the first time the 38-year-old has discussed the number of Taliban fighters he personally killed during his military service, and is likely to increase concern about his personal safety.

Prince Harry lost virginity in field behind pub with woman who treated him 'like a stallion'
The Duke of Sussex recounted the 2001 exchange with an older woman in his autobiography Spare

Prince Harry lost his virginity in a field behind a pub to an older woman who treated him “like a young stallion”, he reveals in his autobiography.

After having sex, the unnamed woman slapped him on the bottom and “sent me on my way”, the Prince reveals.

He was still at Eton at the time, and says it happened in 2001, meaning he was 16 or 17.

Prince Harry admits to taking cocaine and mushrooms, saying drugs let him see ‘the truth’
The Duke of Sussex also reveals in his memoir that he smoked cannabis in his garden at Kensington Palace and while at Eton

The Duke of Sussex admits in his memoir he has taken cocaine, cannabis and magic mushrooms, revealing that psychedelic drugs allowed him to see “the truth”.

Prince Harry writes in Spare that he took psychedelics both for fun and therapeutically over the years, smoking cannabis in his garden at Kensington Palace and at Eton.

Under their influence, he was able to see there was “another world where the red mist didn’t exist”, he says, claiming that drugs had helped him both escape and “redefine” reality.

He reveals that after the drugs wore off, he was still able to see this other world that was”just as real and twice as beautiful”, reinforcing his belief that “this is not all there is.”

“Only the truth existed,” he writes.

Prince Harry says woman with ‘powers’ relayed message from Diana

In his highly anticipated autobiography, Spare, Prince Harry describes how his sadness over the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, led him to seek help from a woman who “claimed to have ‘powers’” and to be able to relay a message.

“You’re living the life she couldn’t,” Harry says the woman told him. “You’re living the life she wanted for you.”

His account of what he says was a conversation with his dead mother is short. Harry, who now lives in Los Angeles, does not say where the meeting happened, or when. He does not name the woman involved.

The prince says he “recognised the high-percentage chance of humbuggery” but went to meet the woman because trusted friends recommended her.

“The minute we sat down together,” he writes, “I felt an energy around her.”

The prince says the woman told him she felt an energy around him too, and said: “Your mother is with you.”

Harry replied: “I know. I’ve felt that of late.”

The woman, he writes, told him his mother was with him “right now”. Harry says his neck grew warm and his eyes watered.

The woman told Harry his mother knew he was “looking for clarity” and “feels your confusion”, and knew he had “so many questions”, and said answers would come in time.

DJ Tony Blackburn to front new 1960s-themed TV channel
The channel will be dedicated to the decade and broadcast performances from artists of the era

Veteran BBC radio DJ Tony Blackburn is spearheading the launch of a new TV channel dedicated to the swinging Sixties.

That’s 60s will broadcast performances from artists of the era and special shows hosted by famous faces who lived through the decade.

Blackburn, who was the first ever presenter on Radio 1 in September 1967, will front the first show on the channel, which launches at 6pm on Friday.

Other presenters signed up to That’s 60s include David "Diddy" Hamilton, who was also part of the original line-up of DJs on Radio 1, and "Whispering" Bob Harris.

The launch follows in the footsteps of Boom Radio, a nascent radio station aimed at older listeners.

That’s 60s will be launched as a sister station to archive channel That’s TV, which broadcasts old favourites such as sitcom Til Death Us Do Part.

It will be commercially funded through advertising and will broadcast across the UK on Freeview channel 75, Sky channel 366 and Freesat channel 506.

That's TV 'Best Music' programs seem to be endless repeats, bearable when they play the great music from the sixties. Unfortunately there was a load of crap, slushy, music in the 60s, too. IMO.

Taylor Swift’s cat is reportedly the third-richest pet in the world, worth $97 million

A new report from All About Cats has named the musician’s cat, Olivia Benson, as the third-richest pet in the world with a net worth of $97m.

“The Scottish Fold earned her fortune starring alongside her owner in several music videos, has crafted her own merchandise line, and has had cameos in many big-budget ads, including for the likes of Diet Coke and Ned Sneakers,” the report said.

Former King in serious condition

Greece’s former King Constantine has been hospitalized for several days at Athens’ Hygeia hospital and his condition is serious, Greek state broadcaster ERT reported Friday.

Constsantine, 82, has been hospitalized several times in the past couple of years, twice with the coronavirus, and had moved to Athens in 2021 from his previous residence at Porto Heli in the Peloponnese, to be closer to hospitals. Before he entered Hygeia, he had been at the Atticon Hospital.

Constantine ruled from 1964 to 1967, when his failed counter-coup against the then ruling military dictatorship forced him into exile. A 1974 referendum, months after the restoration of democracy, abolished the monarchy.
