Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9028 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1140 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1077 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8977 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Punch-drunk Apple Watch called 15 cops to a boxing workout when it heard 'shots'

An Australian personal trainer's Apple Watch inadvertently summoned 15 police to a suspected shooting that was nothing of the sort.

Sydney man Jamie Alleyne was running a boxing class, with a client punching away at pads on his hands. As the client pounded the pads, sufficient force was imparted to activate Apple's Siri voice assistant due to the pressure of his wrist against his watch.

Alleyne said he took off his watch because Siri kept interrupting and could not make sense of instructions he issued to his client to punch in certain combinations, like "1-1-2" – an emergency telephone number.

Those instructions included remarks about the quality of the client's "shots" – boxing parlance for punches.

Unbeknownst to Alleyne, Siri had jumped to conclusions and soon police and ambulances were swarming the gym where he plies his trade.

Thessaloniki: A Fake Doctor Deceived Patients With Multiple Sclerosis For More Than 10 Years

The Thessaloniki Organised Crime Sub-Directorate is investigating a case involving a "fake doctor" from Athens, who is accused of persuading multiple sclerosis patients to try an "innovative treatment" with stem cell injections, resulting in five people losing their lives.

There are an estimated 15 victims of the physiotherapist posing as the doctor, and from all different regions of Greece.

From his illegal action, the "fake doctor" is estimated to have made over 1 million euros - but at the price of five people. He allegedly received 20,000 euros from his victims for just one injection.

During the investigation by the experienced officers of the Thessaloniki Organised Crime Directorate, samples of vials that he allegedly administered to patients were sent for laboratory analysis and it was found that they had absolutely no medicinal properties.

The case file includes acts of a criminal nature and the "fake doctor" will face charges of fraud and serial murder.

Tory Party chairman Nadhim Zahawi made to pay ‘million pound’ fine to taxman

Rishi Sunak is under pressure to sack Nadhim Zahawi from the cabinet after it was claimed the former chancellor paid a penalty of more than £1m to settle a probe into his tax affairs.

The Tory party chairman has faced mounting questions over his personal payments to HMRC, but the prime minister has so far stood by him.

Some senior Tories believe it is now impossible for Mr Zahawi to continue in his job, with one describing the situation as “unsustainable”.

The revelation that Mr Zahawi was forced to pay the penalty – part of a reported total tax settlement of almost £5m – comes as The Independent reveals how he tried to gag this newspaper from revealing that he was being investigated by the National Crime Agency and HMRC last year.
