Thirteen new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, four on Ithaka

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8832 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.1042 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1322 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9056 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

New Minimum Wage In Greece

From 1 May 2022, the statutory minimum monthly and daily wage in Greece were increased.

The Greek Ministry of Labour has set new minimum wages for employees and blue-collar workers employed on a full-time basis, without age distinction in Decision No. 38866/21.4.2022.

    * For employees, the new gross monthly minimum wage is EUR 713.00.
    * For manual workers, the new gross minimum daily wage is EUR 31.85.

This new increase of 7.5% is in addition to the one already granted from 1 January 2022, resulting in an increase of 9.7% or EUR 63 per month within 2022.

In addition, depending on the years of service completed by the employee before 14 February 2012, the minimum monthly wage and the minimum daily wage are increased by up to 30%. This means the monthly gross minimum monthly wage for employees with three years of service can be up to EUR 213 higher (EUR 713 + 30%). In other words, the minimum wage in this case can be EUR 926 plus Christmas and Easter bonus and holiday pay.

In particular, for employees with three to six years' experience, the gross monthly wage is set at EUR 784.3, from six to nine years at EUR 855.6, and for employees with more than nine years' experience the wage is EUR 926.9.

The increase in the minimum wage also leads to an increase in unemployment benefit, as the daily benefit and the monthly benefit are adapted to EUR 17.51 and EUR 438 respectively, compared to EUR 16.29 and EUR 407.25 respectively before 1 May 2022.

Sounds as though the pedestrianisation of Skala main street has been legalised and additional road alterations such as one way streets approved.

Water supply may be low or off tomorrow in Tzanata area due to works to minimise water losses through leaks, etc.

Key points: Sue Gray’s final report on Boris Johnson and partygate
Investigation unearths repeated instances of staff flouting Covid rules and results in damning assessment of Number 10 drinking culture

Sue Gray has published her long-awaited partygate report, criticising Boris Johnson’s leadership and lifting the lid on lockdown-breaking antics in Downing Street.

The civil service enforcer had to wait until after a Metropolitan Police investigation, which resulted in the Prime Minister and Rishi Sunak, the Chancellor, being fined, before releasing her full findings.

Her investigation unearthed repeated instances of staff flouting Covid rules and resulted in a damning assessment of the drinking culture within Number 10.

Here is a summary of her major findings:

Quite a lot of coverage in the media.

One message revealed in her report shows that Martin Reynolds, Mr Johnson’s principal private secretary, boasted that staff had “got away with" breaking the rules.

Even though it broke the law - for which other people, not in BoJo's circle, were fined?

Even Conservative MPs can see a "cover up" Guardian

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has officially requested the Met Police detail how they arrived at their decisions, probably taking into account that no-one was formally interviewed and various photos show BoJo (and others) at social events with drinks'. Huff Post

Apparently BoJo has said he takes responsibility and is sorry. Well, that's OK then.
