The island's agricultural cooperative has requested the Ministry of Rural Development & Food seek Protected Designation of Origin status for Kefalonian honey and other hive products.


Heard Kefalonian Lines have leased the ferry boat Zakynthos from ANEZ.

According to sources, the Finance and Justice ministries are planning to expand the scope of their electronic cross-checking from 110,000 to 250,000 taxpayers in a bid to establish their actual incomes and property ownership.

Those who fail to declare the actual amount of their revenues and value of their total assets will be liable to very heavy penalties.

Greece has managed to facilitate visa issuance procedures for Russian citizens (visas are obtained in 48 hours). The visa facilitation resulted to a major increase in arrivals from Russia to Greece.

Mrs. Kefalogianni said the tourism ministry is currently in the process of further developing the network of visa centers.

Residents in Greece that have a valid unemployment card will be entitled to visit all of the country’s museums free of charge, according to a recent announcement made by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

Mr. Samaras said that unemployed individuals will soon be allowed free entry to other Greek cultural venues as well.
