Not surprising. They don't fit into the microwave, there's not enough profit, the short order cooks they employ as "chefs" can't cope with the complexities of a traditional roast and, last but not least, British tastes has slumped so far that a "burger" is considered a quality Sunday lunch.

You're probably right about this being a cost-reducing exercise rather than responding to changing tastes. I think from time to time about other pubs serving "2 meals for£10/the price of one". How much preparation/cooking time is done on the premises and how much at a central factory for reheating locally. Dunno if I want to know the answer. :oki: Actually a good quality burger done well to order can be a very fine thing.
But Wetherspoons do a good range of beer at remarkably low prices. Round our way at least you get a choice of real ales at £1.99.
