Family's TUI flight from Manchester Airport to Greek island delayed by TWO days
A family who had booked a much-needed short break in the sun to Kefalonia were among those hit by yet more flight chaos over the weekend - and had their trip delayed by TWO days.
Instead of jetting off at 4.46pm on Sunday (May 29), the gutted family have been told they will not actually be leaving until 6am on Tuesday (May 31), cutting their already short trip down even further to just three days.

Tourists Can Afford to Visit Greece, But Many Greeks Can’t
While Greece is already nearly overflowing with tourists kept away during the COVID-19 lockdown years, many Greeks hit with near-record inflation and price hikes can’t afford to take vacations in their own country.
Taking a domestic holiday in Greece costs some 30 percent more than it did in 2019, the year before the pandemic hit, said Kathimerini, citing an unnamed tourism official.
That was based on soaring prices for accommodations with demand spiking, American airlines adding more direct flights and people pouring in from across the world, eager to have fun again although COVID is still around.
Between jumping prices and limited availability of rooms, more Greeks are deciding to spend their summer time off at their villages or hometowns or staycations in their own residences – or even going abroad which could be cheaper.

Australian helicopters arrive in Greece to help for third fire season
Six specialist fire fighting helicopters from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia have arrived in Greece for their third fire season.
The helicopters have been contracted by McDermott Aviation and will soon be joined in Greece by the company’s pilots and engineers.

More flights cancelled ahead of Jubilee break
Holiday giant Tui is cancelling more flights as air passengers face ongoing disruption ahead of the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.
Tui will cancel six flights a day until the end of June, which it blamed on staff shortages at Manchester Airport.

Mask to be lifted in Greece as of June 1
Masks will no longer be mandatory, barring certain exceptions, as of Wednesday after almost two years of the measure.
Until at least September 15, citizens will be able to enter all indoor areas without a mask, without the risk of being fined. Exceptions are healthcare facilities and nursing homes, as well as urban public transport (metro, electric railway, buses, trolleybuses and trams).

Passengers in tears and giving up on holiday as TUI cancels flight by text
After a four-hour delay to their flight, they were moved from one gate to another before a chorus on text tones suddenly filled the departure hall.
Their flight to Kefalonia in Greece had been cancelled, meaning they were left to wait two hours for their luggage to be returned to them before trudging outside where promised coaches never materialised.

ir Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner have received questionnaires from Durham Constabulary, Labour has said, over an alleged breach of lockdown rules.
The force is investigating a gathering in the Durham office of Labour MP Mary Foy in April 2021, when most indoor socialising was banned.
Sir Keir was pictured through a window drinking a beer in the MP’s office after a day of campaigning for the local elections in Durham in April 2021.
Ms Rayner was also at the event, dubbed by some as “beergate” in the wake of the Downing Street “partygate” investigation into lockdown breaches.
Both the Labour leader and his deputy have said they will stand down if fined by police over the investigation - but the pair have insisted they are "confident" that no rules were broken.
