Fifty one new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, one on Ithaki.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1673
1 USD = € 0.8717

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Internet Speed in Greece at a Snail’s Pace

Internet speeds in Greece – both at home and on mobile – are incredibly slow, as they trail the global average by six spots.

According to Speedtest Global Index, which compares international data speeds each month, Greece ranks 31st out of a total 138 countries ranked in terms of mobile data speed.

Greece fares even worse in terms of internet speeds, as it sits at the 91st spot out of a total 178 countries listed.

A recent study by the European Data Journalism Network ranked Greece at the bottom in Europe in terms of average internet speed.

With an average download speed of just 29 Mbps, Greece is in last place regarding digital access throughout the EU.

MI5 must investigate ‘security risk’ Boris Johnson after Partygate leaks, David Blunkett says
Call comes after allegation that prime minister left top-secret documents lying around when visitors came to his flat

MI5 should investigate Boris Johnson as “a security risk” following the leaks of TV footage and emails about the No 10 parties, David Blunkett says.

The emergence of the evidence suggests the prime minister’s staff do not have “the first idea about the potential of cyber-attack”, the former Labour cabinet minister warned.

“The counterterrorism division of the Met, together with MI5, should take a very urgent look. I would be very surprised if they’re not,” Lord Blunkett said.

The call comes amid an allegation that Mr Johnson left top-secret documents lying around when visitors came to his Downing Street flat – prompting his aides to ban him from taking the files upstairs.

Florida authorities warn of freezing iguanas falling from trees

For the second time in a week, the National Weather Service of Miami-South Florida warned people to be aware of iguanas falling from trees during the unusually chilly cold period.

They often aren't hurt by the drop but will be left sluggish and immobile by the cold weather, often leading people to think they have died.

The males can grow to at least five feet long and weigh nearly 9kg.

Claims of bribery in the municipal council following a decision to widen and surface a road to the football pitch in Skala rather than a road (allegedly) preferred by the residents. Hey ho!

Allegedly, fitting and driving in snow chains is under consideration for adding to the Greek driving test and motorists will be be required to carry snow chains in their vehicles between October-April. Not sure how drivers will tested in their use when there's no heavy snow on the roads
