Man admits keeping pensioner’s dead body in freezer for nearly two years
A man has admitted keeping a pensioner’s body in a freezer for nearly two years but denies using his bank card to obtain cash.
Damion Johnson pleaded guilty at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday to keeping 71-year-old John Wainwright‘s body in the freezer of a property in Birmingham.
Mr Wainwright died in September 2018 and was discovered in August 2020.

Spies to track down text scammers and bring them to justice
Home Secretary’s crackdown to bring intelligence agencies and new police squads together in fight against fraud
Spies are to be brought in to track down text scammers, the Home Secretary will announce.
As part of a crackdown on fraud, the three intelligence agencies will work with new regional squads of police officers to find and stop scammers targeting Britons from abroad.
The Government will also ban technology that allows criminals to bombard hundreds of people every minute with phishing text messages.

Rare 'warty' pigs born at Newquay Zoo
Newquay Zoo in Cornwall has welcomed the arrival of two Visayan warty piglets – one of the rarest species of pig in the world.
The birth of the piglets is a huge success for Newquay, especially as it comes less than a year after the arrival of older siblings, Kevin Bacon and Amy Swinehouse, who were named with the help of the public.

Greece sucks for journalists, according to a new report.
For the second year in a row, Greece came last among EU countries in Reporters Without Borders’ (RSF) 2023 World Press Freedom Index, released Wednesday.
Greece now ranks 107th, right behind Qatar and Thailand, and performing worse than countries such as Niger, Lesotho and Haiti, the press freedom organization’s ranking shows.

Kremlin drone: Zelensky denies Ukraine attacked Putin or Moscow
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied his country carried out an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin, which Russia says was an attempt on President Vladimir Putin's life.
"We don't attack Putin or Moscow. We fight on on our territory. We are defending our villages and cities," he said, speaking on a visit to Finland.
