Very small increase in air arrivals this September compared to last, looks like UK arrivals kept the season going for Kef.

Unconfirmed but heard far fewer cruise ships will be coming to Kef in 2016, could mean 40,000 - 50,000 fewer day trippers, if true.

France floods: Several dead on Riviera after storms

Violent storms and flooding have hit southeast France, killing at least 13 people, knocking out power and disrupting travel, officials said.

Three elderly people drowned when their retirement home near the city of Antibes was inundated with floodwater.

Another five people are reported to have died as they tried to park their cars under shelter and became trapped.

Heavy rain hit the French Riviera, which lies on the Mediterranean coast and borders Italy, on Saturday evening.

Surprised by those figures. During our visit (8 - 22) everywhere seemed busier than last September, though we were told that Fiscardo was quiet.

On both occasions this year I visited Fiscardo and the place looked decidedly I'll at ease with itself. One waiter nodded that throughput was down by as much as 30%. The same applied for beautiful little Assos which at the best of times can border on the 'unconscious' but just gave a vibe of resigned desperation. God willing the powers that be can sort the arterial coast road out between Myrtos/Assos and plug the life support system back in. I won't hold my breath U4ea!

Got the impression that the first part of the season was quieter than last year with all the press hype and uncertainty, but caught up loads as the season progressed overtaking last year making it quits overall.

We were told that the reason the cruise ships will not return is down to the assos Fiskardo road not being open, when it is fixed they will return.

I heard an agent had spent some effort getting cruise ships to come to Kef, then other agencies tried to get in on the act and undercut his tours. Cruise companies lost commission hence pulled out. Whether that's any more accurate than blaming the road to Fiskardo...
:dunno:

It  was in Kef press a few weeks ago citing the reason was the road closure, but like you say, who knows, I am sure we be given another reason in due course
