Happens everywhere - even in the children's hospital where I worked. Remember once two guys wearing brown coats pushed a truck trolley into an outpatients department and nicked the fridge. A consultant walked past them when they had his dictaphone. Crooks would take young kids with them as "cover". If challenged for being in the wrong place they would ask where the toilet was "for the kiddie"- so you knew they were crooks.
