Two neighbours in their 80s, who had led otherwise blameless lives, have been convicted in court after cutting down a 45ft-wide clematis bush that was in another neighbour’s back garden.

It all made sense when I read that the dog's name was Jed :) :)

Kuoni has put its UK business up for sale as it looks to exit the tour operating business to focus on its core activities.

Not sure it will have much, if any, impact on Kef.

The danger of a Greek departure from the eurozone and the ensuing crisis that would erupt in the country’s economy have generated major fears among Greek tourism professionals ahead of a largely unpredictable season, according to the president of the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis.

...another negative factor is the expected decrease in the travel flow from Russia, mainly due to the drop of the ruble.

An additional adverse factor for Greek tourism may well be the 80 percent recovery in bookings for Egypt.

There are also some positive factors for tourism in 2015, including the euro decline that has made Greece cheaper as a holiday destination for countries outside the eurozone, which account for some 50 percent all visitors to Greece. Another plus is the drop in global oil rates, which allows for an increase in the number of flights and the creation of cheaper Greek holdiay packages.

Another new element that will affect this year’s tourism numbers is the fear of terrorist attacks, particularly after recent events in France. With the security it offers tourists, Greece could receive a significant number of visitors who want to avoid destinations with an increased risk.

A coffee shop owner today vowed he would not back down after receiving death threats for displaying a “Je suis Charlie” sign outside his cafe.

Adel Defilaux, a French-born Muslim, was terrified when a man stormed into The Antishop in Brick Lane, East London, at 9.30am yesterday.

The intruder demanded that Mr Defilaux take down the sandwich board featuring the slogan that has become a rallying cry in support of the 12 victims of Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris.

Mr Defilaux, who is originally from Marseille but has lived in London for five years, said he had put up the sign to support everyone in France and had received no complaints from anyone else.

“I get on with all the community here. We are opposite a mosque and all my neighbours are Muslim and no one else has had a problem with the sign. These fanatics believe in the wrong stories and have no shame in attacking people,” he said.

It's not just Creme Eggs: The products that are shrinking before your very eyes

Despite the fact that Birmingham has recently been rightly recognised as on of the finest places in the world it seems unfortunate that some of our greatest culinary marvels have been lost to the city.  First of all we lost Ansell's mild, then they move HP sauce production to Holland, now the yanks have decided to destroy the Cadbury's Crème Egg.  What next?  The EC banning the scratching!!!
