Seven Greek Orthodox bishops hurt in acid attack by priest
Priest undergoing disciplinary hearing in Athens is suspected of attack that put clerics in hospital

Seven bishops from the Greek Orthodox Church have been hurt in an acid attack by a priest undergoing a disciplinary hearing in Athens, police said.

Three of the bishops were still in hospital following the attack late on Wednesday, while a police officer who was at the scene was also being treated, police added. Local media in Greece reported that those attacked had suffered burns, mostly on their faces.

The suspect, a priest who risked being expelled from the church, was accused of being involved in drug trafficking, according to the ANA press agency.

More than 2m adults in England have had long Covid for over 12 weeks – study
Research says people tend to fall into two categories: those with respiratory illness and those with fatigue-related symptoms

More than 2 million adults in England have experienced coronavirus symptoms lasting over 12 weeks, government data suggests – double the previous estimate for long Covid.

The study, one of the largest to date, found that people with ongoing symptoms tended to fall into two categories: those with respiratory symptoms, who often experienced more severe illness when they first got sick, and a second group with fatigue-related symptoms.

EE brings back roaming charges in Europe after Brexit

EE will bring back roaming charges for new customers who use their phones in Europe.

The company follows O2 in making changes to how customers are treated on the continent after Brexit.

Membership of the EU had ensured that everyone travelling from the UK could use their phones and data allowances as if they were at home, but those protections were lost after the new relationship went into effect.

Turkey’s ‘Sea snot’ arrives at Greece’s northern Aegean islands

Thick swathes of marine mucilage, also known as ‘sea snot’ because of its slimy texture, have started appearing around the Greek islands of Limnos and Agios Efstratios in the northeastern Aegean in recent weeks.

The phenomenon, caused by a nutrient overload in algae resulting from pollution and high temperatures, is being monitored by the Fisheries Research Institute on behalf of the Environment Ministry.

“It forms every so often but usually dissipates after a while. This is the first time in a decade we have seen so much,” said Stavros Stathakis, vice president of the association of fishermen on Limnos.

He warned that the sludge is hampering fishing and also putting off tourists.

Covid: Balearics and Malta added to UK's green travel list

Spain's Balearic Islands, Madeira, Malta and Barbados are among the places being added to the UK's green travel list, the transport secretary has said.

People entering the UK from 16 places will not have to quarantine from 04:00 on 30 June, Grant Shapps confirmed.

He also said the government intended to drop quarantine for fully vaccinated people returning from amber list countries "later in the summer".
