Greece Exits Longest Unseasonally Rainy Weather Since 1975
Greece is exiting the longest unseasonally rainy spell the country has experienced since 1975, meteorologists of the National Observatory of Athens weather service said in an announcement on Sunday.
Saturday was the seventh day of inclement weather in a row, with local showers and storms affecting the country since August 21st.
According to meteorological data, the last time Greece had experienced such an extended period of unseasonal rainy weather in mid-summer was forty-seven years ago in 1975 from July 30th to August 5th.

Body of a 79 y-o foreign national recovered midday yesterday from Gennadi beach, Rhodes.

Tragedy in Argostoli just before 09:30 this morning when a 4x4 driven by a 37 year old local man plunged into the sea where the Lixouri ferry docks. People at the scene are said to have dived in to attempt rescue, without success, and Coast Guard divers arrived a short time later but were also unsuccessful in retrieving the driver alive. Vehicle retrieved by crane.

Police horse dies on duty at Notting Hill Carnival
A police horse has died while on duty at Notting Hill Carnival, according to Scotland Yard.
The force said it would be investigating after the animal collapsed at around 9pm on Sunday.
It died at the scene despite being provided with emergency care.

Man killed after 'trying to steal lion cub' from African zoo
A man has been mauled to death by a lion in Ghana after allegedly entering the zoo enclosure to steal a cub.
The lion was in the enclosure with her two cubs when the incident happened. It is thought that the mother pounced on the man as soon as he entered the enclosure.
