Kef fire risk 17/08/22: Medium

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8675 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.0435 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1527 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9583 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:

UK ‘could become ideal red wine producer’ due to rising temperatures from climate change

The UK could become a leading producer of red wine due to rising temperatures from climate change, a new study claims.

Research on climate resilience in the UK wine sector suggested rising heat will affect grapes and could make Britain a key player in the production of high-quality wine.

That reminds me - we've got a young olive tree in the yard, every year produces olives about the size of pin heads. This year we've got two the size of peas!

State pension to breach £200 a week mark for first time
Soaring inflation will push payments up by £1,000 a year due to triple lock rules

Pensioners will be largely sheltered from the cost of living crisis next year as the state pension guarantees them an inflation-matched increase in income, while younger working households will bear the full brunt of rising prices, experts have warned.

Google fixes fifth Chrome zero-day bug exploited this year

The security update is currently rolling out for Windows, Mac and Linux. Users who have automatic updates turned on should receive it in the coming days/weeks.

To perform the update now, head to the browser’s settings, select “About Chrome” and let the browser’s internal checker scan for available updates. After the download is complete, restart the program to apply the security update.

Because the latest Google Chrome update fixes a flaw already exploited by threat actors, it is recommended switch to the latest version of the browser as soon as possible.

State pension to breach £200 a week mark for first time

Pensioners will be largely sheltered from the cost of living crisis next year as the state pension guarantees them an inflation-matched increase in income, while younger working households will bear the full brunt of rising prices, experts have warned.
But worth remembering pensioners were denied the "guaranteed" "locked in" "set in law," rise for 2002, instead receiving 2% instead of 8%
As a result, next year's Bumper Payout should be seen as the 6% and a bit it truthfully reflects, once this year's deduction is factored in

But since when did the media let a little bit of maths and truth get in the way of some youngster annoying click-bait?
