Outstanding schools are struggling to recruit suitably talented headteachers and senior staff – with some applications for headships littered with spelling and grammar errors.
Emma Knights, chief executive of the National Governors Association, told The Independent that applications from experienced teachers for top roles were often “really badly completed”, with some candidates even spelling the name of the school incorrectly.
“Sometimes, it’s basic grammar that’s wrong,” she added.

Heard the reason for the closures is different to what's stated. But the headteachers couldn't spell it.

Giant eagle on the loose in Yorkshire
A giant sea eagle, with an 8ft wing-span, is loose in the Yorkshire Dales after escaping her trainer.
Police today stated the bird was not dangerous to the public, but yesterday tweeted a warning to pet owners to keep small animals indoors.
Nikita's trainer commented yesterday: “She’s massive – like a small glider,” but reassured people the eagle was harmless.
Mr O’Donnell believes the bird will be found a few miles away, adding: “It’ll be sitting in a field wishing it was back home.”
