Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.9010 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.0168 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1099 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9835 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Millions of over 60s living a 'soulless life' without money for eating out or holidays
Age UK survey shows impact of cost of living crisis on older people already suffering from loneliness

Millions of older people are living a “soulless and solitary life”, Age UK warns, with many unable to afford to look after their pets, go on day trips and eat out with friends.

The cost of living crisis is impacting older people who are already suffering from loneliness, with two in five now unable to eat out, go on trips and do physical activity because it is too expensive.

Hm, t'was more fun being 20 something in the seventies than 70 something in the twenties...

The music was better, for one thing.

‘Millions of dogs and cats could be put down or abandoned’ due to cost of living crisis
Exclusive: Government urged to set up fund to save pets’ lives as owners forced into debt

Millions of dogs and cats could be put down or abandoned, it’s feared, as people struggle with their pets’ bills in the cost-of-living crisis.

Campaigners are warning that without government intervention, swathes of Britain’s 20 million companion animals are at risk of being euthanised or will suffer from a lack of veterinary care because of the cost.

Ministers are being urged to set up a “cost-of-living pet crisis fund” to limit the damage and to help owners, many of whom are heartbroken at having to give away their animals.

When I was a kid a popular name given to dogs was 'Fido'. I never knew why but, by chance, I came across the story of Fido.

Lord Lucan 'is exact match for Australian pensioner', facial recognition expert claims

Lord Lucan and a pensioner in Australia have been matched as “the same individual” by a facial recognition expert who unmasked the Skripal poisoners and Jamal Khashoggi’s killers.

Professor Hassan Ugail believes his world-leading AI photo analysis technology may have cracked Britain’s most infamous murder mystery as a matter of “science and mathematical fact”.

The computer scientist, based at the University of Bradford, has made global headlines for his work identifying some of the world’s most wanted men.

The Telegraph seems to be putting more and more of its articles behind a paywall although that one I could read just by scrolling down 'under' the invite to subscribe, or whatever it was. There's probably a browser extension to bypass paywalls but I'm not sure if they're secure. I find 12ft.io works well at removing Telegraph paywalls.

The Tory vote could be split, according to the, er, Telegraph.

BTW, the Telegraph article has been updated, apparently police investigated the man a few years ago and ruled him out. Heading now reads:

UK drops plans for £250m national flagship yacht

Plans for a national flagship yacht to promote the UK abroad have been shelved, the defence secretary has announced.

Ben Wallace told MPs a competition to build the vessel, estimated to cost up to £250m, had been terminated.

The ship was commissioned by former PM Boris Johnson last year to host trade fairs and diplomatic events.

No 10 said it was right to "prioritise" spending "at a time when difficult spending decisions need to be made".
