The Netherlands' tax regime is enabling a Canadian gold mining company to pay less tax in Greece, a report by a Dutch foundation concluded Monday (30 March).

The Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations found that Greece has missed out on at least €1.7 million in tax revenues, because the company, Eldorado Gold, profited from the Dutch tax rules.

The report comes as the Greek government is under pressure from countries like the Netherlands to increase its tax collection to meet its cash shortage.

Dutch finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, who also leads the group of eurozone finance ministers, has repeatedly stated that Greece should improve its method of collecting taxes, an irony which was not lost on the authors of the report, Fool's Gold.

Heard a dog in Mousata recently ingested poison, with the usual fatal result. If memory serves me correctly, incidences of poisoning seem to peak around this time of year.

Recently, best of what I could gather. Could just be the rumour mill in action again.

Cracking vid of the fox!  Presumably not the Labour fox some claimed George Osborne shot in his budget speech.  (Always did seem a strange metaphor!)

Read this yesterday - a very well stood up story by the Daily Fail.  More this morning about health info sold on from insurance companies airlines and health product companies among many others.  Absolutely dire

One source of extensive info not mentioned in the article:  travel companies give out client satisfaction questionnaires on the plane trip back.  Included in many of them is a lengthy "survey" about a huge list of personal and lifestyle areas.  Do you think Thomson et al collect this just for fun?!  They flog it and tempt you with a "prize" of a free holiday.  What people don't realise is that a few "unique identifiers" (mobile number for instance, but name and address will do) will enable multiple sources of info to be combined into mega databases about you, your income, shopping preferences, your health and age and just about everything else.  If you think Google is bad you ain't seen nothing yet!  Don't fill in the questionnaires - cross them out - even if they don't enter you in the prize draw!

Yep, if you want to get spam in your inbox and junk mail in your letter box just fill in loads of questionnaires. If you feel in any way pressured or obliged to fill these things in at least give false personal info.

Yes, and it isn't just strays that are/will be poisoned, quite often domesticated dogs are often thrown poisoned meat. If you have animals, please be on your guard and take a note of registration plates if you see anything suspicious - that's if they have any, of course..!!
