Football players carry dogs from shelter onto the pitch in bid to rehouse them
Zenit St Petersburg’s players walked onto the pitch with dogs in their arms before their match against FC Rostov on Friday (3 December) in an attempt to get them adopted from local shelters in Russia.
The heartwarming gesture was part of the ‘Dogs are better at home’ campaign, which started on 30 November, after Russia celebrated World Pet Day.
Zenit wrote on a Twitter post: “The aim of the project is to highlight to the public the responsibility and care required when having a pet and to help raise funds for local dog shelters.”

Renewing driving licences to go online
The procedures for the renewal of driving licenses and the issuance of copies of vehicle licenses are being digitized as part of a Transport Ministry initiative in cooperation with the Digital Governance Ministry to move services online.
The service concerns professional driving licenses that are renewed every five years, as well as other driving licenses that are renewed every three years if the holder is over the age of 65.
The licence can be printed at a police station and delivered by courier for a fee, removing the need to visit a local transport ministry office in person.

Euro banknotes to get first big redesign with 19-nation consultation
New theme being sought to replace current ‘ages and styles’ motif, says European Central Bank
Euro banknotes are facing a redesign for the first time since their launch two decades ago, with a plan to make the currency “more relatable to Europeans of all ages and backgrounds”.
The European Central Bank (ECB) said it was starting a process to select new designs for banknotes, in consultation with citizens from across the 19 nations that use them, before a final decision is taken by 2024.
