Thirteen new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, none on Ithaka

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8779 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.0876 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1391 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9195 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office (https://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-money).
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:

Some bats pretend to be bees to scare off predators

Sometimes you have to fake it until you make it.

Well, at least for some animals, you have to pretend to be scary and dangerous until you’re no longer on the verge of being eaten.

Pretending to be an animal much more dangerous than yourself is what biologists call “Batesian mimicry” – which scientists have now documented in a species of European bat that buzzes like a hornet.

Their report, published on Monday 9 May in Current Biology, notes that this is the first evidence of a mammal mimicking the sound of a more dangerous animal.

When researchers studying greater mouse-eared bats handled the animals, they noticed something strange — the bats seemed to buzz like hornets or bees. They theorised that the bats could be mimicking insects in an attempt to ward off potential predators.

A wing and a prayer: is there hope for Britain’s loneliest bat?

Our rarest mammal lives on its own, with no known relatives this side of the Channel. Did the greater moused-eared bat stray here from France? And is it time we invited over some company?

NatWest customers have complained of being pushed into their overdraft after the bank confirmed a payments glitch had caused some accounts to be accidentally charged twice.

A number of customers said that the error, which showed some Visa debit card purchases twice, has decreased their balance and erroneously pushed them into their overdraft as the bank battles to rectify the issue.
