Heard there's going to be roadworks in Poros in the near future, may affect (or delay) access to the ferry port

TUI's summer bookings from the UK are up 9% while revenue is up 8%, according to an interim report released today.

Its most significant growth has come from mainland Spain, the Balearics and the Canaries while bookings to Turkey remain 'subdued' it said.

Hm, no mention of Greece. Other reports suggest Greece might be picking up bookings that would have gone to turkey.

Wetherspoons News last autumn carried an article claiming that the owner of the Daily Fail, Viscount Rothermere, had extensive tax avoidance measures via a string of companies starting in Jersey and ending up in the Caribbean. No one has been sued/denounced in print ("Booze-monger's vile tax claim fury") so I guess it's true.

Car hire firm warns of shortages and price hikes this summer

It said that the recent troubles in Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey had led to more people booking summer holidays closer to home, leading to greater demand for hire cars in traditional hot spots such as Majorca, Menorca, Malaga and Alicante.

It said its bookings for Italy were up 32%, for Spain they're up 28%, Portugal 23% and Greece 18%.

Estimates I've heard for Kef suggest maybe a 3-5% increase in tourism on last year. Car prices...  :iroll:

'Swedish man dropped foul revenge fart after woman refused him sex'

A woman reported a would-be lover to police after he allegedly stunk out her apartment with a “revenge fart” when she refused him sex, Swedish media report.

Officers were contacted on Sunday by the alleged victim, who claimed she found the scent disturbing, according to Swedish regional newspaper Hallandsposten.

The pair had apparently discussed having sex but the woman declined.

In response, her suitor let one go with allegedly malicious intent.

She is said to have later told police: “It smelled very bad in the apartment.”

Detectives in Laholm, south-west Sweden, are not pursuing the allegation, the newspaper said.

Ukip MEP David Coburn Went On Periscope And Everyone Pretended They Couldn’t Hear Him
Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? Yes. It is.

Ukip’s Scottish MEP David Coburn hosted a live Periscope chat about Scottish politics on Tuesday evening - and everyone pranked him by pretending his microphone was not on.

Last night the leaders of Scottish political parties including first minister Nicola Sturgeon, Labour’s Kezia Dugdale and Conservative Ruth Davidson took part in a TV debate ahead of May’s Holyrood elections.

Coburn, unhappy at not being invited to take part, decided to take his message directly to the people.

Unfortunately for Coburn, his microphone failed. And when it started working again, lots of Scots tricked him into thinking he was still not being heard.
