Seventeen new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1518
1 USD = € 0.8651

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Bee aware: do you know what is in that cheap jar of honey?

British beekeepers are calling for a requirement on supermarkets and other retailers to label cheap honey imports from China and other nations with the country of origin after claims that part of the global supply is bulked out with sugar syrup.

The UK is the world’s biggest importer of Chinese honey, which can be one sixth of the price of the honey produced by bees in Britain. Supermarket own-label honey from China can be bought for as little as 69p a jar. Supermarkets say every jar of honey is “100% pure” and can be traced back to the beekeeper, but there is no requirement to identify the countries of origin of honey blended from more than one country. The European Union is now considering new rules to improve consumer information for honey and ensure the country of origin is clearly identified on the jar.

The UK also imports significant amounts of cheap honey from India, Ukraine and Vietnam.

Hope ‘rabbit hotels’ can help Britain’s decimated population bounce back

Symbol of Easter and scourge of Mr McGregor, the rabbit may be the cute hero of children’s books but its rapid reproduction has traditionally made it a pest for farmers and gardeners.

Now, however, with British rabbit populations are being decimated by disease, the humble bunny is being hailed as an “ecosystem engineer” and landowners encouraged to create innovative “rabbit hotels” to revive its numbers.

Storm Arwen: Customers set to spend third night at Britain's highest pub

Dozens of customers at Britain's highest pub are set to spend a third night trapped by heavy snowfall brought by Storm Arwen.

Guests became stranded at the Tan Hill Inn, in the Yorkshire Dales, on Friday after going to watch an Oasis tribute band.

They have been unable to leave because of a fallen power line and snow blocking the main routes out.

Manager Nicola Townsend said everyone had remained in good spirits.

Back in the 1980s I used to cycle up there from Richmond in North Yorkshire, where I lived at the time.  A long slow ride uphill and a very fast ride back down!  I can think of worse pubs to be holed up in for a few days, with pints and hot soup... But, as Private Fraser would have said, "tis a wild and desolate place, you understand". :-)

I'm sure it's a great pub but... really not sure I could do three days holed up with an Oasis tribute band!
