Five new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1324
1 USD = € 0.8584

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Boris Johnson 'pictured hosting Christmas quiz during Covid restrictions'

The Prime Minister has been accused of breaking Covid rules last year after a picture emerged of him allegedly hosting a quiz at Number 10.

The Mirror reported the image is from December 15 2020 and claim it shows Boris Johnson flanked by two members of his top team as he hosts a Christmas quiz.

One staffer appears to be wearing tinsel, another a Christmas hat.

The paper said staff were invited to the virtual quiz, but on the day many decided to take part from Number 10 instead.

At that point last year, London was under Tier 2 Covid rules - banning social mixing indoors between households.

Stephen Fry says returning Elgin Marbles to Greece would be a 'classy' gesture
The broadcaster and writer said the controversial display could be replaced with an artificial reality 'experience'

Stephen Fry has called for the Elgin Marbles to be returned to Greece and replaced in the British Museum with an artificial reality "experience".

The broadcaster and writer said modern technology is so advanced that the carvings could be reproduced using lasers.

The original Parthenon sculptures, which date back almost 2,500 years, could then be shipped back to Athens in a "classy" gesture by the UK, the 64-year-old said.

'Get boosted now': Covid booster programme extended to over-18s, PM announces

Over-18s will be offered a Covid booster jab by the end of the year as the target for giving every eligible adult a third dose has been brought forward by a month over fears of a "tidal wave of Omicron" that could cause "very many deaths".

Covid: Why Johnson won’t be rescued by his address to the nation

“It feels like a tipping point. Trust in Boris is collapsing. It could be fatal”.

So spoke a senior Tory, who hitherto has been a great cheerleader for the prime minister.

And tonight’s address to the nation by Boris Johnson won’t, he says, change the perception of Tory MPs that his recent performance has been inadequate - and may in fact be reinforced by Johnson’s choice of simply speaking sombrely down the barrel of a camera lens rather than holding a press conference and taking questions.

The point is that there will be no media challenge after Boris Johnson broadcasts that he wants us all to get a vaccination booster ASAP, and after he re-emphasises the gravity of the dangers posed by Omicron, with the official threat level nudged up from three to four.

“He daren’t have a press conference” said an ex minister. “Because he knows every question would be about Downing Street Christmas parties and gold wallpaper. And to be clear, that’s his own fault, no one else’s”.

I was in the local supermarket yesterday and there were a number of people not wearing a mask.
